We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial self-starter to build out and lead the accounting and financial reporting function at Crown Affair. The Controller will work closely with the CFO to ensure decision-makers across the organization are supported with accurate and timely financial information. The Controller will also build and define processes and infrastructure that support the company’s mission and growth plans. This is a dynamic role with high opportunity for growth.

What you will do—

- Assist the CFO with building out the company’s Finance and Accounting department over the

next 1-2 years with the right people in the right seats needed to support the business. Can

think both short-term and long-term with regards to outsourcing vs staffing.

- Oversee and coordinate all operational accounting functions including A/R, A/P, invoicing,

collections, journal entries, maintaining the chart of accounts and accurate expense mapping.

- Own P&L and Balance Sheet cleanliness including department expense mapping, expense

accrual entries, revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, tax estimates and bonus program

accruals.

- Coordinate the month-end close process. Prepare and present monthly financial reporting for

key stakeholders.

- Establish and maintain strong internal controls environment, especially over financial

reporting.

- Direct, coach and manage internal accounting resources.

- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Willingness to reset

on processes as needed to conform to GAAP standards.

- Act as a lead point of contact for external auditors and facilitate smooth annual financial

statement reviews or audits.

- Evaluate current systems and offer recommendations for improvements. Implement new

processes or systems when needed to ensure the financial infrastructure / function scales

with the business.

- Understand cash flow management, reporting and forecasting.

- Manage and refine company expense policies identifying ways to manage and track company

costs effectively.

- Own contract management and vendor negotiations as it relates to accounting and financial

reporting.

- Manage banking transactions (deposits/ACH transfers/refunds/autopay/wires)

- Coordinate all outsourced tax support and ensures tax compliance.

- Provide reporting to outside agencies as necessary for corporate loans, leases, SBA and any

other compliance reporting.

- Own payroll processes and related controls.

- Assist with tracking performance against annual company budgets and forecasts.

- Assist with Stock Compensation and Cap Table management.

Key Requirements—

- 7+ years’ experience in accounting/finance

- 3+ years of experience with accounting and financial reporting function-wide leadership and

oversight

- CPA preferred (not required)

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required)

- Consumer or CPG industry experience is a plus.

- Experience with inventory and inventory costing is a must.

- Experience with QuickBooks Online is a must. Experience with Cin7 and ERP migrations is a

plus.

- Experience reporting to executive leadership and presenting analysis of monthly financials.

- Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior executives and leaders across the

organization.

- Advanced Excel skills.

- A critical thinker with attention to detail.

- Strong financial acumen and analytical mindset.

- Proven financial analysis skills.

- Must be comfortable working in a small, start-up environment with ability to juggle multiple

projects, requests, and priorities at the same time.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000-$165,000, plus eligibility for a 20%

discretionary bonus depending upon individual and company performance. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition, Crown Affair offers a variety of benefits to eligible team members, including health insurance coverage, wellness and

holidays, and others. Many of these benefits are subsidized or fully paid for by the company.
